Start->Chapter 2->Episode 20 To Lucinda
Today was a mixture of all sorts of events of which only one pleased me, Caspar met minxie at the Café as I suggested and offered her the job as his assistant. After a period of confusion due to Caspar being unable to prefabricate to save his life, she accepted his offer. Actually Caspar's apparent confusion over the non-existent job he was offering her appeared to have cemented the deal, for when she asked what the job entailed, he did not have a clue what he did during the day and his waffling caused her to start interrogating him. He tried to elaborate what his working day entailed but he failed so miserably that he left her with the opinion that he was confused, unorganised and this seemed to give her the confidence to accept his offer.
I was delighted and told Caspar that I would pay double his normal fee if he manages to keep her employed until my event was over. Caspar was doubtful of his ability to keep any woman enthralled without taking her to his bed but I warned him that would cause many varied problems such as the end of his career and perhaps his life. I know that he had his eye on this antique sideboard at Liselle’s shop and I told him if he got minxie to my event, it was as good as his, which had him brightened up considerably and agree he could do the task, no doubt believing that the rewards could be far greater than an antique.
My bad news was that my forever meddling unattractive and thoroughly repulsive Aunt by marriage discovered that I was considering an event and bullied her way into the planning saying that it was easier to let her have it than to have her thwart it. Since my sister Liselle was somewhat lukewarm on the idea, I believe she has gained a certain fondness for this girl, as Liselle used to be quite happy to aid my in my malfeasance. However Ladonna was even a better cover with her loud assertions that she was having a grand soiree at our compound would be heard all over town and if minxie was to hear I was forced into the affair she might perhaps not be suspicious of my motives. I felt apeboy was no longer an issue for even if Lynx became bored with him, he had managed to cut his own throat quite nicely.
