Start->Chapter 2->Episode 29 To Lucinda
Today I had a delightful little luncheon chat with my minxie as she in her innocence and almost stupidity thought if she played dumb I would allow her to pretend our little arrangement had never existed. I arrived with that dreary Nadia Voss who decided to attach herself to me in some sort of attempt to pull that idiot Tony Sedero in line, what a false dream that is for the silly songbird is as ignorant as she is talentless.
Minxie was a tad nervous when we joined her and stayed silent trying to avert the inevitable, however I was not about to allow my precious to slip through my fingers, not after all the effort I had put into obtaining her. So when she attempted to ignore me I reminded her gently that if she were to back out I could arrange the wedding of my dear cousin in a heartbeat. How I love the joys of misplaced friendship it has been the demise of many a business rival and even more social fools. She quailed and trembled, then folded as I knew she would for her tender heart would always be her undoing, at least until I had hardened it into one worthy of a Dubois.
It was then as she succumbed to my whisperings, leaning towards me in defeat that the idiot monkey boy walked in—I could not have planned the scene any better I had orchestrated fate itself. A sweet flood of victory charged through me as he looked over to discover minxie and I having our little private chat with my hand proprietarily on her arm, her sweet face turned to me so pale with angst. His face darkened with a rage she understood and a jealousy I did, and it was almost payment enough for the grief she had put me through. Poor minxie you have yet to fully savour my presence in your life.
