Start->Chapter 4->Episode 23 To Lucinda
As I sat alone in my office determining the seeds of minxie’s destruction, she laid her mother to rest in a service attended by most of the town’s elite, except of course the Dubois family, for I was not about to yield to vulgar curiosity. My sister in her usual ethereal manner had vanished and my Aunt was probably out purchasing a fake leopard clothes warehouse.
I sat engrossed with thoughts that became darker as the day progressed for I should have been the one guiding her through this day, the one by her side during the wake, the one leading her up to bed when all the guests had left. I knew ape boy had left her home the night before but I knew from the gossip that he would be in her bed by funerals end and my time was wasted in any attempts to insert myself into her life. I was better served by arranging the removal of the ape and his tedious habit of reinserting himself into her life at random moments.
It will take a great deal of careful gathering of debts, however I do have a course of action evolving that will finally end this liaison between this ill fated couple. As for my delicious minxie I have no choice but to destroy her world right down to its foundations. I will rid her of ape boy in a manner calculated to break her heart in a public humiliation, as she has flamed my anger with her continued ignorant behaviour. I would have given you the world minxie had you only succumbed to my guidance and chosen to have become a Dubois. Oh yes my little treasure, I would have made you mine had you not despoiled yourself with these creatures soiled from the gutters they come from as neither of them have the heritage of our obviously superior families, nor the intelligence to cope with molding you into the perfect being fit for our natural social status. Instead I will turn your future into ashes and all that you fear will be true. Minxie I shall watch you from afar, the kindness you might have once inspired in my heart is dead and your misery will become my joy.
