Ladonna at Large

Ladonna at Large

Ahh- tonight how the Dubois estate lit the town with our glitter and glitter and glitter as staff ran about attempting to fulfill the contradictory orders my aunt threw at them. My dear Aunt Ladonna created the event of the season and managed to include everything but the flying monkeys. Her gala was a bastion of bad taste, nowhere else could one find more clashing of colours and textures than in her ballroom, well except for on the lady herself. She decided to wear something resembling a dead animal impaled with diamonds upon her head and a gown with such a ridiculously long train that the waiters risk life and limb just to offer a guest a glass of champagne. I went down to the winery to collect the Vanderhag and her daughter for this was to be my amusement of the evening, watching scandal drip off the lips of pointless matrons and when that wore thin to torment her daughter with an overly familiar presence. This however is also losing its appeal as the little treasure is starting to confide in me. Oh the doors this shall open!

For a second, just one second, I felt a stab of emotion that might have been regret, this affair should have been for minxie and I, she would have been my natural consort, the first lady of Bishop Vale. Instead she was nowhere in sight, no doubt cavorting with her ape in some puddle while the rest of civilization arrived at the compound to be entertained. How they were entertained, Ladonna provided them with champagne, food and gossip enough for a century. Just as I had cast the evening into the pile marked mundane, the Vanderhag’s husband arrived. The instant polarizing of the room was stunning and I did enjoy flaunting his wife and daughter while my glacial sister offered no support as she is not exactly one to pet a man and go there, there. So the luxury of the night wearied me and I shall continue this delightful tale tomorrow.
