Start->Chapter 5->Episode 12 To Lucinda
Today was indeed a day of surprises, I had arranged with my partner in the recording studio to have the attentions of his latest songbird to be focused upon me. It was with mild surprise I observed him trying to avoid placing her within my reach so I could not resist and had to observe to him that perhaps he was interested in the little lady still? However he assured me that their liaison was simply to prevent over zealous fans from harassing her too much for while most young stars enjoy the admiration of single young men, this particular princess was becoming stalked by a few determined local gentleman. Osmosis felt this might send them packing and it went without saying it did not hurt his PR any, to have a luscious creature on his arm at public events.
It took a bit of persuading but in the end he understood that my goodwill was worth far more than any potential profit from a songbird, for one can get a songbird at anytime. In fact our town had several budding creatures all too willing to fill her space, perhaps not with quite her talent but who said the audience had any taste. So that afternoon I ambled down to the studio to study my latest dalliance at closer quarters while she worked. This little nightingale was full of the spark that had her scowl at me when she sat at with minxie in the café and I remember her dismissing me with those cool blue eyes, her youth giving her a defiant independence. How lovely it will be to change the glow of her eyes and replace that defiance with the knowledge of me.
I stood there admiring the light golden hair and slender figure she had inherited from her mother while Osmosis explained to her that I wished to enjoy her company after her session. Even from across the room I could see those gray eyes darken as she shook her head vehemently and urgent murmur of his voice entreating her. I left them in the midst of their discussion knowing that Osmosis would have her delivered for dinner and he was true to his word. When evening came, they arrived at the compound and Osmosis wisely slipped away when the little miss was preoccupied with glaring at me.
I managed to tame the wildcat enough to get her to sit down for dinner and after mellowing her with a few glasses of excellent wine I decided that the only way to approach this spitfire was to explain my intent. I allowed her the knowledge that she held a certain level of attractiveness and although the girl was indeed quite lovely she did not have the glacial allure of let’s say my sister Liselle or the warm ingenuity of minxie. I expressed my interest in knowing her in ways other than her vocal talents and her eyes narrowed to a stormy gray I was growing familiar with. I felt a momentary pang for despite her obvious charms had she not been so young she might have been an amusing adversary but as it was I held far too many cards for her to even be a blip upon my screen.
As I explained what I expected from her I was interrupted by a laugh of disbelief. The dear girl thought this was a joke and I continued smoothly for one must never allow the outbursts of little girls to ruffle them and assured her that a liaison with me would benefit not only her career but her social status. Unlike the other songbird who allows me to vent my uncontrolled lust upon her this particular dear had a mother of certain social standing which meant I would have to endure certain social situations as part of the seduction. The girl suggested I return to my whore—her exact words, meaning that she was well aware of my little excursions. Perhaps she was not such the innocent after all. It was hard to imagine that such a savvy child existed inside minxie’s circle. I called my driver to take her home and soon as she had departed I had a brief conversation on the phone which entailed removing her from her career. As I said earlier I do hold all the cards.
