Start->Chapter 5->Episode 13 To Lucinda
What an amusing and satisfying time I had today, I could not have planned a better day which started by wandering out to the little mansion the woods Lynx so quaintly calls a cabin. I cannot say who was less pleased to see me, the little kitten or the fluffy wife of the Vanderwimp. I arrived to the wary disquiet of apeboy and Vanderwimp but it was Lynx who was the object of my attention, the girl needed a reminder of who was in charge. The little puss was missing the bright city lights and had after a few days wearied of her chore of seducing the ape boy, not that he was an unwilling participant, she felt an eerie sense of déjà vu and described how very much like his father he was, in body and temperament.
Lynx under my instructions had not revealed my ownership of the studio to the extreme meatnuts and they were bristling with suspicion and anger once they discovered they were yet again bound to me by contract. I put their minds at rest by explaining this little show was to compensate them for our earlier business misunderstanding and they expressed disbelief at my sincerity until I showed them a double page layout in a magazine of the show, the billboard advertisements and of course mentioned the television commercials. They were instantly appeased and too full of their own self importance to notice that the men in the ads had their backs to the camera, suggesting that they could be replaced at any time for I was never one to be without some sort of escape route.
I attended to first things first and took Lynx upstairs for a little reminder of just why she prefers to do what I ask instead of have me visit and I must say I was in the mood for some physical release after being unceremoniously dismissed by a little spitfire of a songbird. Lynx came back into line and blamed her aberration upon the presence of the Vanderwimp’s wife, she said her serenity, yes with a straight face, was disturbed when she had to hear the whiny voice of wifey demanding attention all day. I knew different and realised that the serene Lynx was a trifle insecure and was perpetually having to prove her attractiveness by seducing all and sundry. The presence of wifey would have put a tremendous pressure on Lynx to seduce husband right under her nose and while she was carrying out my intent she would have been wrestling with her own basic urges.
I decided to oblige Lynx and dismissed wifey in a flurry of tears and scowls from hubby. I explained that television was a business in the end and one does not take their wives to business meetings. With my work up there done I returned to town and to the most pleasant part of my day which was calling minxie and asking her to make her usual choices, her friends or herself. Minxie attempted to be curt and rude but her darling voice just would not allow her to. The angrier she sounded the sweeter it became until I could barely restrain my laughter. Before I left her I did toss a cat among the pigeons when I suggested the upcoming nuptials of the confection and eldest son of Vanderhag might not go as planned. Poor minxie I could almost smell her panic over the phone. She hung up on me which meant my arrows had hit home. Sometimes my dear minxie I can’t help but to jerk your strings.
